Congratulations on booking your hearing assessment! Here are a few tips to help your appointment go as smoothly as possible:
When Preparing…
At your first appointment, we will ask you to bring your insurance information and a list of any medications you take.
And we will give you a hearing health questionnaire, with questions about your exposure to noise, your family’s history of hearing loss or lack thereof, and various symptoms of hearing loss, such as ringing in the ears, or finding it difficult to understand speech or hear the TV.
Putting some thought into any symptoms you experience, and even writing them down beforehand, will give us a more complete understanding of how they affect your daily life.
Finally, please invite a loved one or a friend to accompany you! Hearing loss is often difficult, so we want to make your hearing healthcare journey as easy as possible, surrounded by love and support.
When the Day Arrives…
Once your registration and hearing health history are complete, we conduct a wide range of hearing tests to assess your level of hearing loss and where it comes from. Your ear exam and tympanometry test will check for any obstructions that may be causing your hearing loss. Your pure tone and bone conduction pure tone tests will determine your level of hearing loss. And your speech test will determine how well you understand speech.
Altogether, your appointment should take about 45 minutes. Your actual hearing test will take approximately 20 minutes, and we will discuss your test results and provide our recommendations as soon as your test is complete.

After your hearing test is finished and we’ve discussed your options, feel free to talk to your loved ones about your test results. The more people who understand your hearing loss, the more they will be able to support you.
